SOCIB at the "Conference to initiate a debate on the strategic framework for research and innovation for sustainability: the need for an agreement"

SOCIB´s director, Joaquin Tintore, participated to the first "Conference to initiate a debate on the strategic framework for research and innovation for sustainability: the need for an agreement" organized by the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the Government of the Balearic Islands organizes (27th of September, 20th of October and 22nd of November 2016). This conference is divided into three sessions to be held between September and October in the CaixaForum Palma and which will gather representatives and experts from different institutions involved in land management, research, and economics. The vice president and minister of Innovation, Research and Tourism Biel Barceló, together with the Minister of Labour, Commerce and Industry Iago Negueruela, and the general director of Innovation and Research, Pep Lluís Pons, presented the first conference.

“Science for and with society”, putting science at the service of society, the Government of the Balearic Islands seeks to involve civil society and invite all stakeholders to participate actively, through debate in the construction of a new strategy growth based on a new holistic approach to sustainability. Thus, the conference aims to be a starting point for progress towards a new growth model more sustainable, competitive and inclusive, through a new regional strategic planning, and a set of measures agreed with the citizens of the Balearic Islands.
