SOCIB & Science based conservation (National Parks Spanish Network)

Diego Alvarez from SOCIB participated at the seminar entitled "Application of remote sensing to monitor the state of conservation of natural systems in the National Parks Network" organised by the Autonomous Organisation of National Parks (OAPN) in Valsaín, Segovia, 27 - 29 September, 2016. Diego Álvarez gave an oral presentation describing the different observing platforms, the integration of the platforms, the ingestion of the data into the data center and its availability, as well as some applications. The importance of the multi-platform approach in tracking and monitoring the marine environment and its potential application for the maritime-terrestrial national parks conservation programs was discussed and agreed by all participants, as well as the importance of free, open and quality controlled data to establish baseline line that are essential for science based preservation and conservation of national parks.
