SOCIB actively participated in the organization of the “IX Jornadas de Geomorgología Litoral” held in Menorca

SOCIB actively participated in the organization of the “IX Jornadas de Geomorgología Litoral” held in Menorca, 12-15 September 2017 and hosted by the Institut Menorquí d’Estudis (IME), the Societat d’Història Natural de les Balears (SHNB), University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) on behalf of the Spanish Society for Geomorphology (SEG) and the Spanish Geological Society (SGE) with support from the Conselleria de Medi Ambient, Agricultura i Pesca (CAIB), DG Innovació i Recerca (CAIB), Consell Insular de Menorca, Museu de Menorca and Ajuntament de Maó.

The meeting focused on beach, cliffs and dune morphodynamics and quaternary studies and brought together over eighty scientist from Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Australia and Brazil. The meeting combined paper and talk sessions with fieldtrip visits. During this fieldtrips meeting participants visited the SOCIB’s coastal videomonitoring station at Son Bou (Southern Menorca) and known from SOCIB members the main technical characteristics, the coastal monitoring programme characteristics and the main results.
